In 2020, I started working with the French luxury brand Dior. I created original digital illustrations for their app Dior (K)NOW, as well as for internal presentations and trainings.
The illustrations are a way to communicate what cannot be put into words, creatively showing products, people, routines, rituals and everyday snaps of reality.
On this ongoing project, I’ve already developed over 400 illustrations currently in use by thousands of employees.
Besides that, I have also attended various events of the brand, creating live illustrations of clients on the spot.
As we all know, 2020 was an especially challenging year. With a lot of time in my hands, I started exploring woodcut printing and fell in love with it.
I created this series entitled “Chaos x Calm” thinking of this last year. Although it was an uncertain time, I could always find pockets of peace and little outbursts of joy. The chaos and calm that coexisted inside of me outpoured into these prints, illustrating the emotions and contradictions within me.
The series also served as a present for special clients. It was given as a “thank you” for believing in my work.
I always loved to draw and paint, but I fell in love with the art of illustration during my time in Japan.
I like to paint women and their emotions, always trying to bring my other passion – prints – to my work. The patterns that adorn the background add a different layer to the story of these characters.
Lately I’ve reflected a lot on the fragility and strength that lie in me. These feelings are transformed into shapes in this illustrated series entitled “Reflection”.
These digital illustrations mix animals and women with bold colours and elegant lines, creating a metamorphosis. Both sides coexist and merge into a new creature, strong and sensible at the same time.
Over the course of many years, various artists have inspired me. Each one has their own personal path, sometimes close to mine, sometimes not. Reading about their lives, personal achievements and shortcomings always motivates me.
For this series I selected a few female artists that moved me in some way. I chose to paint them monochromatically, however using various shades in each hue, representing the multitude of stories in them.
For Yayoi Kusama, from Japan, pink was a clear choice to illustrate her personality and country. Brazil, my homeland, was pictured in green and took form as Clarice Lispector. Frida Kahlo, from Mexico, has always moved me. Her story and Mexico were pictured in orange.
Don’t be shy, say hi!
I’d love to hear from you.
